Linda, the s.11.1 amendment is an interesting contrast to Quebec's "Ethics, Religion and Culture" (ERC) course. According to an article in the Globe and Mail, the ERC course is mandatory for all school children in Quebec, including those attending private religious schools. The course apparently teaches a range of different religions / spiritual perspectives, as well as secular humanism, and is being challenged by a number of parents with the support of the Canadian Constitution Foundation. See John Carpay's article in the Globe and Mail at: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090508.wcoschool11/BNStory/specialComment/
